Living
Wise Program for Area Schools
a Success 6.12.08
South Jersey Gas is committed to promoting energy and resource conservation and through the recent completion of our Living Wise Program, we provided area students and their families with tips and resources to reduce their energy use.
The Living Wise Program,
which was introduced in five area schools,
including Millville, Bridgeton, Egg Harbor
Township, Folsom, and Washington Township districts,
provided 6th grade classes with Resource Action
Kits. Used in conjunction with classroom activities
and lessons, the resource kits allowed students,
with the help of their parents and families,
to perform home audits, retrofit their homes
with easy to install conservation devices and
learn about the importance of conservation.
Armed with water saving shower heads and faucet
aerators, compact fluorescent light bulbs and
other conservation tools, students were able
to track and reduce their family’s energy consumption.
The program was a hit,
and we received tremendous feedback from the
teachers whose classrooms participated. |
