What
is SJG FastBill?
FastBill is an Internet-based billing and payment option. Bills are electronically
created and delivered directly to your e-mail via an encrypted, password-secured
document. Electronic payments can be made directly from your bank account or
credit card. It’s safe, convenient and offers the flexibility to manage
your bills at any time and from anywhere.

is South Jersey Gas offering FastBill?
Customers have requested this option because it is convenient and allows them
to reduce their costs associated with checks and postage
How much does
this service cost?
It’s FREE when you make your payment using your existing checking or
savings account. If you choose to make an automatic payment via credit card
using Speedpay, you will be charged a $4.95 processing fee.
How does
FastBill work?
Once your request for FastBill service is accepted, we will send billing
information to your e-mail address on the same schedule that our paper bills
are created. You can view and pay your bill online at any time and schedule
the payment for any date you select. You decide which method of payment you
prefer. Please allow one to two billings cycles for FastBill to be activated.
During that time, you will continue to receive a bill via regular postal
delivery.
What
features does FastBill have?
With FastBill, you can:
• receive, review and pay your bill online;
• review your account history;
• access up to six months of your most recent statements;
• view bill inserts online.
How do I begin FastBill service?
Simply click on “Express
Enrollment” and provide the required information. That’s
it!
How does FastBill benefit me?
FastBill reduces the time
it takes an average household to manage bills. Did
you know the average U.S. household receives 12-15
bills and statements every month? Retrieval from the
mailbox, sorting, opening, analyzing, paying, mailing,
and filing these by hand takes an average of 10 minutes
per item. This process takes approximately 3 hours
every month or 45 minutes every week. With FastBill,
you can pay your bill in less than 60 seconds at any
time and from anywhere you have Internet service. Plus,
you never need a stamp!
Who can receive their gas bills electronically?
This service is currently available only to residential
and some commercial customers. Customers who are not eligible
to receive their bills electronically are:
• Accounts receiving their final bills
• Accounts requiring special handling
• Large commercial and industrial customers
• Accounts under bankruptcy
• Accounts that, in the past 12 months, have been disconnected due to non-payment
or have received more than three disconnect notices
Is my billing information
secure and private?
Absolutely. The strongest type of encryption is used to ensure your privacy
and security. With FastBill, all confidential account information is kept
secure and your name will not be added to any mailing lists without your permission
Can
I use FastBill if I’m on the Equal Payment Plan?
Yes. With EPP, we total annual gas bills and divide that total into 12 equal
monthly amounts. We continue to read your gas meter each month and review
your account in September. If your actual cost of gas used is significantly
more or less than expected, your monthly budget payment amount will be adjusted
accordingly.
Can I use FastBill with the direct payment plan?
Yes. With FastBill, your bill is paid directly from your
checking or savings account. You are
e-mailed a monthly statement confirming the payment amount and date.
Will
my gas bill still be sent in the mail?
You will receive one last paper bill at the same time your first FastBill
is presented. A special bill message will alert you that you will no longer
receive a paper bill. Each subsequent monthly bill will be sent electronically.
Please allow one to two billings cycles for FastBill to be activated.
Can
I still see the bill inserts and important messages?
Yes, you will still be able to read the bill inserts and important messages
that SJG includes with your bill. When viewing your bill on-line, simply
click on one of the links to see the electronic version.
