We’ll see if gas is available in front of your home. If it is, we’ll send you an application, answer your questions about the conversion process and help you set up a free, no-obligation appointment with a qualified contractor.
After completing your application, return it to your SJG representative and/or contractor with the following:
- Check for $65 for the processing fee
(make check payable to South Jersey Gas)
- Installation proposal from the heating or plumbing contractor you’ve selected to do the work.
- SJG will review and process your application and will contact you within three business days of receiving your application to let you know the status.
When your application is approved and you agree to move ahead with installation, you will need to indicate the location of underground facilities on your property, such as sprinklers, invisible pet fences and, electric or water lines running to outbuildings.
SJG will prepare the design drawings (you may see our representative taking measurements on your property), obtain the necessary street opening permits, and coordinate with the New Jersey One Call center to arrange for location and mark out of your underground utilities as part of the NJ’s damage prevention laws.
Throughout this process, your SJG energy efficiency consultant will contact you with updates.
Once the permits are in hand, we’ll install your natural gas service and activate your meter.
