South Jersey Gas Issuing $10 Million Customer Bill Credit; Second Savings Passed on to Customers in 2016

As announced in October, South Jersey Gas, a subsidiary of South Jersey Industries, Inc. (NYSE: SJI), is issuing residential and small commercial customers a Basic Gas Supply Service (BGSS) bill credit totaling $10 million, primarily due to lower than expected wholesale gas costs. The average residential heating customer who buys their natural gas from South Jersey Gas will receive a bill credit of approximately $28 over the next four to six weeks.

South Jersey Gas Supports The Nature Conservancy’s First Blue Carbon Study for New Jersey Coastal Wetlands

South Jersey Gas, a subsidiary of South Jersey Industries, Inc. (NYSE: SJI), has partnered with The Nature Conservancy to provide $10,000 to support the first “blue carbon” feasibility study in New Jersey. The study will determine the potential of establishing a coastal wetlands carbon sequestration program in New Jersey. South Jersey Gas Receives Approval to Continue Accelerated Infrastructure Investment Program; Announces $10 Million Customer Bill Credit

South Jersey Gas, a subsidiary of South Jersey Industries, Inc. (NYSE: SJI), received approval from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) today to continue its Accelerated Infrastructure Replacement Program (AIRP) and to adjust rates to reflect prior AIRP investments. Additionally, SJG notified the BPU that it will issue a $10 million Basic Gas Service Supply (BGSS) bill credit in December, its second in 2016, primarily due to lower than expected wholesale gas costs. This means an average residential heating customer who buys their natural gas from SJG will receive a bill credit of approximately $28 on their December bill.

Students from Mullica Township School in Elwood pose with their principal and members of the South Jersey Gas team at a fossil dig sponsored by the company at the Jean & Ric Edelman Fossil Park at Rowan University. Students had the opportunity to learn more about fossils and the history of dinosaurs in what is now New Jersey. Before they left, the students dug for their own fossil souvenirs to take home.

South Jersey Gas to Begin Construction in Wildwood and Wildwood Crest as Part of Storm Hardening

South Jersey Gas wants to alert residents, business owners, and motorists in Wildwood and Wildwood Crest, New Jersey that work will begin on or about Monday, October 24 (weather permitting) to convert the natural gas infrastructure system from lower to higher pressure throughout the borough. South Jersey Gas is performing this work to enhance and protect its infrastructure in advance of future significant weather events as part of its System Hardening and Reliability Program. Installation of 2 inch, 4 inch, and 6 inch yellow plastic natural gas mains will take place along New Jersey, Seaview, Atlantic, Pacific, and Ocean Avenues, from East Lavender Road to East Andrews Avenue. Work will also be performed on side streets, including East Buttercup Road, East Morning Glory Road, East Cresse Avenue, East Hildreth Avenue, East Bennett Avenue, East Leaming Avenue, East Hand Avenue, East Rio Grande Avenue, and East Taylor Avenue.

South Jersey Gas to Continue Construction on Tuckahoe Road, Upper Township

South Jersey Gas wants to alert residents, business owners, and motorists in Upper Township and Ocean City, New Jersey that work to install new underground 4 inch yellow plastic, natural gas main in the area will continue. Beginning Monday, October 24, weather permitting, Tuckahoe Road north of Church Road will be closed for approximately one week. Southbound traffic from Roosevelt Boulevard will remain open. Northbound traffic will be detoured eastbound to Church Road, continuing north onto Stagecoach Road and finally to Roosevelt Boulevard.

South Jersey Gas hosted its first 811 Day ‘Dig Safe Fair’ to inform local contractors and community members of safe digging practices yesterday at The Home Depot in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. Each year, utilities observe August 11, also known as ‘811 Day,’ with fun and educational community events focused on the importance of calling 811 prior to starting any digging project. Even for a project as small as a mailbox installation or landscaping, a call to 811 is legally required. The fair, co-hosted by Atlantic City Electric® and sponsored by New Jersey One Call, UtiliQuest® and Atlantic Infratrac included informative pamphlets, snacks, and giveaways.

South Jersey Gas Completes Storm Hardening and Reliability Work in Ventnor

South Jersey Gas, a subsidiary of South Jersey Industries, Inc. (NYSE: SJI), announced today the completion of its infrastructure improvement project for Ventnor City, NJ, which increases the reliability of local services in the event of future storms by eliminating all its low pressure natural gas distribution systems. This work was completed as part of the company’s Storm Hardening and Reliability Program. After Superstorm Sandy, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities encouraged the state’s utilities to propose programs that would build greater resiliency into their systems in the aftermath of major weather events. Through this program, SJG to date has replaced approximately 41 miles of low pressure main, 13 district regulator stations, and 4,860 services within Ventnor and Atlantic City.
