Through the Infrastructure Investment Program, we are:
Upgrading associated infrastructure across South Jersey
Installing excess flow valves (EFVs) on new service lines to automatically shut off gas if a line is damaged

Bryan Hayes
Bryan Hayes is a Field Measurement Specialist who has worked at South Jersey Gas for 22 years. His responsibilities include maintaining the pressure regulation system throughout Cape May County, responding to gas leaks and repairs, and supporting new business service installations. What he enjoys most about his work is his dedicated team; they constantly solve problems, adapt to challenges, and keep the gas system operating safely for our customers. His role has given him a deep appreciation for the impact of their work, whether they are restoring service or helping customers stay warm during major power outages. One of his most memorable experiences was during the recent cold snap, when gas demand reached high levels. His team continuously monitored and adjusted regulator stations around the clock to maintain system pressure and ensure the load could be carried safely.
His commitment to working 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in all types of weather reassures our customers that we will be there when they need us most. For young people considering a utility career, he says it requires both technical skills and the ability to think on your feet. He says you must be willing to adapt, overcome challenges, and solve problems as they arise. It is a highly rewarding career that offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of others every single day.

Joseph Broz
As a Utility Technician with South Jersey Gas, Joseph Broz handles installing meter sets and performing leak investigations to ensure public safety. He loves traveling across South Jersey and interacting with the community, which has made him hyper-aware of local infrastructure— which meter sets may need updating and how things are laid out when there are markouts.
During emergencies, like the South Harrison Township tornado, his team worked tirelessly through impassable roads to respond to calls of reported gas odors and/or no gas. The bright light was that there were no injuries or gas-related incidents. Seeing his community's resilience reinforces his love for this career, which he highly recommends to young people as a secure, lifelong profession. Joseph says that if you're able to land a job like this, you'll stay until you retire.
